What is ringtone?

Ringtone is a melody you hear when you getting incoming call, SMS or MMS. This melody may be encoded in different formats like MP3, MMF, WAV, AMR, QCP and your phone must support this format to use melody as a ringtone. There are ringtone converters that create ringtones in the required format directly from the songs on your computer and send them to your phone so you can use them. You can make your phone unique creating your own ringtones or simply set your favorite music as a ringtone to listen it every time you get a call.

What is MP3?

MP3 is a popular music format used by all hardware and software players. It is also a ringtone format used by modern phones. It means that you can use your MP3 music as a melody for your phone, if your phone can take it. MP3 uses compression that doesn't reduce the quality too much, but dramatically decreases the size of music file. But it's not a good idea to use MP3 right from your computer as a ringtone. First, it's usually rather big and takes a lot of your phone's memory. Moreover some phones doesn't accept ringtone more than 200-300kb. MP3s are usually created saving very high quality to listen them on home theatres and hi-fi stereos. Your phone's tiny speaker cannot provide such clear sound so you simply waste phone's memory uploading huge MP3 files. Then, MP3 usually have a 3-4 minutes duration. It's too long for a ringtone. So it's good idea to cut your favorite fragment 20-30 seconds long to set it as a ringtone. To prepare your MP3 files for using them as ringtones we provide special conversion software. It can reduce their quality and file size, cut fragments and etc.

Does your phone supports MP3 ringtone? Get to know! Download Convert to Ringtone Wizard or One-click Ringtone Converter and try our choice assistance system. It's free to try!

What is AMR?

AMR files are ringtone music files used by Nokia phones and also supported by some other phone vendors. AMR ringtones are very compact but they sound a bit worse than MP3 or WAV ringtones. However you can create compact-sized WAV ringtones and send them to phone using our special ringtone conversion software.

What is MMF (SMAF)?

MMF ringtone files are supported by most Korean-made phones such as Samsung and LG. Some other vendors like Siemens also use MMF in their phones. Anyway MMF ringtones are very popular and it's a very high chance that your phone can take them. To know exactly does your phone can use MMF ringtones download and try ringtone converter. It can convert your MP3s and other audio files into MMF ringtones.

What is QCP?

What is WAP?

WAP is a Wireless Application Protocol, and all you need to know about it is it provides internet access for mobile phones. If you want to get created ringtones over the Internet WAP is a "must have" option in your phone! Contact your mobile carrier to learn more and to know is your phone WAP enabled.

What is WAP browser?

WAP browser is an application program on your phone that provides access to mobile internet via WAP. It's like Internet Explorer on your computer, but WAP browser allows you to open and view mobile sites right on your phone. WAP browser exists on the most phone models currently available on the market and even on 3-4 years old phones. You can get ringtones to your phone using your WAP browser. What is Bluetooth?

Bluetooth is a wireless method of data transfer between two or more devices. Using bluetooth-enabled devices you can send your ringtones and other files between your phone and computer without cables for the range of 50 meters/160 feets. Most modern phones are bluetooth-enabled, so the only thing you need is a bluetooth dongle (bluetooth adaptor) for your computer. Bluetooth adaptor is a little device looking like USB-flash card that is inserted into USB port on your PC. Some notebook PCs already have embedded bluetooth adaptor so you don't need to buy and insert anything. After the bluetooth is enabled both on phone and PC it's very easy to transfer any files between them. You can send converted ringtones to you phone using bluetooth connection. Bluetooth dongles(adaptors) are very cheap and costs approx. 10-20$

What is Infrared connection?

Infrared connection is a wireless way to send ringtones and other files to your phone. You need an infrared adaptor both on your computer and phone. Some phones do have infrared link support and most notebooks and portable computers also do. However if you have a desktop PC you should buy an infrared adaptor to establish connection with your phone. It's usually quite cheap and easily connected to USB port. Unlike bluetooth connection it doesn't provide long range and isn't so handy.

What is data cable?

Data cable is a special cable designed to connect your phone and your computer. Different phone models have different cable plugs so data cable must fit exactly your phone. Sometimes it goes with your phone right in the box, but most often you have to buy it separately. You may use data cable to transfer ringtones, images and other files from computer to phone and vice-versa. Connect data cable to your computer USB port(the same port is used to connect your printer, mouse and other devices) and phone's data cable plug to establish connection. Then use software that goes with your phone to send ringtones.
